Fire Safety Evacuation Training and Drills
A plan nobody has practised is a document, not a safety measure.
A plan nobody has practised is a document, not a safety measure.
Seymour Consultants coordinates evacuation drills and training for bodies corporate, businesses and workplaces across Queensland. The point is that when an alarm sounds, occupants and staff move without waiting to be told what to do.
What we run
Training sessions prepare occupants, employees and building management for an emergency. We coordinate the drills, run the instruction, and record what happened so the committee has evidence the obligation was met.
Record keeping is not an afterthought here. If a drill was held and nobody documented it, from a compliance standpoint it is difficult to demonstrate it happened at all.
How it fits with your other fire safety obligations
Training sits alongside the written fire and evacuation plan. The plan defines the procedure, the training embeds it, and the annual compliance review confirms both are current. We can scope all three together, which is usually the sensible approach for a body corporate that wants one provider across the whole obligation.
Who attends
Residents in a residential scheme, staff in a workplace, and building management in either. Mixed use buildings need both approaches, since the residential and commercial parts have different occupant profiles.
Frequently asked questions
How often should drills be held?
Queensland requires evacuation practice on a regular cycle as part of your fire safety obligations. We schedule it with the committee or building manager so it fits around the building’s use. [VERIFY: state the specific statutory frequency once confirmed]
Do you provide records afterwards?
Yes. Documentation of the training forms part of your fire safety records, held in the log book.
Can training be combined with the plan preparation?
Yes, and it commonly is. Preparing the plan and then training occupants in it as one piece of work avoids the gap where a new plan exists but nobody has been shown it.
